"ANYONE FOR TENNIS?" SUMMER FAIR = SUCCESS, SUNSHINE AND STRAWBERRIES ALL THE WAY!
On the weekend when Andy Murray became the first British tennis player to win the Queen's Club title since 1938 our "Anyone for Tennis?" Summer Fair raised a record sum towards church funds.
The sun shone brightly all day, perhaps a little too brightly at times, and the church grounds were full of a wide variety of stalls and sideshows, many on a tennis theme. In particular, many tried their hand at throwing the ping-pong ball on the bottle tombola to see which tennis champion and bottle they would win, and others guessed where the tennis ball landed, trying to win champagne and strawberries.
There was a lovely atmosphere and much fun, faith, fellowship and fundraising took place. Many stallholders dressed in their tennis whites, complete with sun visors (essential for a change!)
All of this would not have been possible without a great deal of hard work, much of which has to be done on the day.
THANK YOU to everybody who contributed and worked so hard. Now we can sit back and enjoy Wimbledon - here's hoping for the first British winner since Fred Perry in 1936!
